Local proficiency flight down the Elizabeth Islands south of Cape Cod, MA. The southern most island, Cuttyhunk, once had a runway that was actually a straight stretch of road on the island. Calling the local police, they would close the road while you landed or took off. The New York sectional only list Cuttyhunk harbor as a seaplane base, but the stretch of road is still clearly visible from the air.
